Two days in Haiti

We have arrived safely in Haiti.  While the travel day was uneventful, it was long and tiring.  After collecting our 22 checked bags at the airport, we headed across country to LaDigue where Children's Lifeline is located.  Arriving just before dark, it was nice to meet Donald and our hosts and settle in for the evening.  Our accommodations are very comfortable and the area we are staying in is very lush and green.  The next morning, we got up early and made the trip from Lifeline to Centre Loving Hands in Turbe.  It was wonderful to worship at the church there and to see the children and staff there at the orphanage.  Pastor Renald asked our team to give a brief update on our trip. Later in the service, the congregation again had us come forward and prayed over us for safety and God's blessing.  After providing our supplies and gifts for the children, Yvette and our hosts at Center Loving Hands made us a special Creole meal before we left to return to Lifeline.

This morning we woke and enjoyed a time of devotion together before beginning some of our projects.  There are many things here on the grounds that need attention and we were able to address some of these today.  Tomorrow we hope to begin working on building the new home four our family of eight.  The foundation has been dug, but has not yet been poured so we be starting a little later than we had hoped- but this is Haiti and things don't goes as planned on the mission field.  We are still hopeful to have the cement and concrete blocks delivered so that we can pour the foundation and then begin putting up the block walls.  Pray that things will come together and that we will be able to overcome some of the obstacles that have set our plans back.  In all of this, we remain aware that God's purposes will be fulfilled, even when out own plans change unexpectedly.  In Haiti, we've learned that you must remain flexible and gracious!
